Our Purpose: Community Football for Everyone

At Teviot Downs Soccer Club, we are proud to be a community-focused club. This is central to who we are and the decisions we make. We believe football should provide a place for everyone. The child kicking a ball for the first time. The player who simply loves being part of a team. The volunteer coach learning alongside their players. And the talented footballer who wants to challenge themselves and progress further.

Our role is to create an environment where players of all ages and abilities feel welcome, supported and valued. We want people to develop their skills, build confidence, form friendships and, most importantly, enjoy playing football. Development will always be important to us, but we do not believe it needs to come at the expense of participation or enjoyment. Success is not measured only by ladders, trophies or how many elite teams a club fields. It is also measured by whether players return each season, whether volunteers feel supported and whether families feel they belong.

We are working towards providing teams and opportunities across more age groups as our club continues to grow. However, with several established academy programs already available within 30 kilometres of Teviot Downs, we do not believe our community is best served by simply replicating what is already on our doorstep.

Instead, our priority is to strengthen what is important in our space right now: accessible community football, quality coaching, player development, positive experiences and a genuine sense of belonging. We recognise that some players will aspire to higher levels of the game. We will support those players by helping them access appropriate development, training and trial opportunities with clubs that can offer the next stage of their pathway.

Our focus is on doing what we do well: building a strong, inclusive and sustainable community club while working positively with other clubs to ensure players have opportunities suited to their goals. Teviot Downs is a place to begin, to develop, to compete, to belong and to keep enjoying the game.
